Stuck by Oliver Jeffers
![]() |
That's a gift that has been thrown into the tree |
Aidan's current favorite bed time story is Stuck by Oliver Jeffers. It's a bout a boy who keeps throwing things into a tree to knock down his kite. A few days after the Christmas tree went up I caught him throwing a toy car into the tree. After that it was Emma's hair clips, Puppy, some pens and other assorted small items. This book is not a good influence.

Happy 5th Birthday!
Since it was our spring break, we had a small family get together for Aidan's birthday. We picked Aidan up from his school (where he had a small party) and went to Cheeky Monkey, an indoor play area near our house. Normally he drags one of us along with him so I expected to get lots of cute pictures. Nope, not this time. He took off and was only occasionally seen. I would have to ask Kiira if he was ok since she say him more than I did. He had a great time but was exhausted by the time we finished.

Don't bake with hyper kids
Aidan really likes the way some ingredients puff out when you blow on them. It was funny when he did it with cinnamon a while back. Cinnamon hangs in the air, and then he walked through it. Lots of coughing and watery eyes but he stopped blowing into the mixing bowl. Apparently he was feeling brave last night. Flour was everywhere. I thought I'd cleaned everything up and then found this the next morning.

It's finally cool enough to swim
Swimming in the summer is gross unless your pool comes with a chiller, otherwise it's like swimming in bathwater. Some beaches have a swift current and the water isn't too bad, but you really have to be careful of riptides. The beach we like is pretty shallow and not fun to swim in between May and August. Our neighborhood pool has a chiller, but until now it's been too hot to be outside for too long. Nobody wants to go swim for 15 minutes and then trudge back home. Now it's finally nice enough to enjoy the water.
