Holy Pumpkins, Batman! It's Halloween!

Aidan and Emma were Batman and Robin this Halloween - they were  so cute.  I was worried that Aidan would hate dressing up (hence his super easy Charlie and Lola costume last year) but he really enjoyed it.  He was pretty tired after the Halloween parade but he perked up once he realized that trick-or-treating meant candy.  Aidan was saying a slightly mangled version of "trick-or-treat" and by the end of the night Kiira was just yelling "Candy!" when doors were opened.

UAE National Day 2011

I found this picture on my phone that I had never posted.  This was the first time Aidan would allow himself to be alone with the camel.

A good morning

We got to school a bit early today and Aidan played on the playground for a bit.  Apparently we'll have to teach him how to use doors.

Impatient much?

Somebody is really ready for school.  Unfortunately it's only 6:30 a.m. and he'll have to wait a bit longer to leave.

Our First Cast

It's been a rough week for poor Aidan.  On Monday afternoon Jean pointed out that Aidan didn't want to use his right hand but nobody could remember him falling or hurting it.  Since he'd had a spectacular temper tantrum that morning, Patrick and I figured he had just whacked his arm and bruised it.  Later that night Aidan seemed more protective of his shoulder so then we thought maybe he had pulled a muscle.  By the next morning we noticed that his hand was swollen and his shoulder didn't seem to be an issue anymore.  (In hindsight Aidan was probably just trying to keep the whole arm immobilized and not protecting his shoulder specifically.)

When we picked Aidan up from the nursery he had an odd lump on his arm and he was holding his hand against his body.  We took him to the clinic up the street from us to have it x-rayed.  The x-ray was a bit traumatizing for all involved.  I couldn't help, Aidan hated not being able to see me, and positioning the hand was very painful.  The doctor and nurse who helped were wonderful and patient.  It couldn't have been easy since the entire clinic could here Aidan crying from the x-ray room.

Poor baby has fractured his wrist.  He has a soft cast on now to make sure the wrist sets properly and then he'll get a hard cast when Patrick takes him in on Saturday.

On the bright side, he seemed much happier once the wrist was set and the cast doesn't seem to bother him too much.

I like boxes!

Aidan has commandeered the new computer box.  He's going to love moving day.
